Jim Akers, 8600 - 176th Avenue NW, stated that he has a question about the communications
listed on page 8. He stated that he has recently tried to get competitive phone service and asked
how the City accomplished getting their bill decreased.

Finance Officer Lund stated that the 2008 number was adopted when they hadn't gotten the 2007
numbers, so it was basically a "guestimate", and didn't come in as high as they thought.

Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that the City looked at their internal phone service
contracts, which is different from the residential lines because it is T -1 lines. She stated that they
have Qwest lines, but a different company manages their actual services.

Finance Officer Lund stated that it was reduced because more of the phone cost was moved to
the Enterprise budget for the Public Works phone services to more accurately reflect the
numbers.

City Administrator Ulrich stated that if the City can be helpful in pursuing additional phone
carriers in the City, that is something that should be looked into.

Mayor Gamec thanked Finance Officer Lund and her staff for working on this informationJor the
City. He reminded people that the entire City budget is available for people to look at.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried.
