Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that it may depend on the timing. He was hoping
to have some subcommittees to investigate interest in specific topics or speakers, whether the
members be from the EPB or other interested people.

Board Member Bentz questioned if compost bins from the County could be obtained.

Chairperson McDilda advised that they were currently sold out but people could call to be placed
on a waiting list for the next year.

Board Member Max stated that he would like the Board to officially thank Sarah Strommen for
all of her work over the years with the Board. He stated that there has been an opening on the
EPB for quite some time and encouraged the HR Board to elect a new member to the Board.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that there is an open house on Tuesday, December
9th from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for Mayor Gamec and Councilmembers Strommen and Olson.
He also advised that an open house would be held for retiring Asst. Com. Dev. Dir. Sylvia
Frolik, on December 18th in the Alexander Ramsey Room.

Motion by. Board Member Max and seconded by Board Member Freeburg to strongly
recommend to the HR Committee that the City Council re-elect Chairperson Joe McDilda to the
Environmental Policy Board.

Motion carried. V oting Yes: Chairperson McDilda, Board Members Bentz, Freeburg, Max,
Sibilski, and Stodola. Voting No: None.. Absent: none.

Board Member Sibilski thought that the Board should consider reviewing the benefits of the
wetland buffers and why it is done. He also questioned if Environmental Coordinator Anderson
could investigate how many cities in the metro currently use wetland buffers, as he suspected
that the item would be discussed by the City Council in the 2009 year.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Board Member Max and seconded by Board Member Freeburg to adjourn the
meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

J~e#tPl

Environmental Coordinator

Environmental Policy Board / December 1, 2008
Page 6 of7
