> MN Renaissance has requested a "mold check" be completed in the next week prior to
signing a lease agreement to ensure the space does not have mold issues. Staff proposes
to split the costs of such work by a certified specialist with MN Renaissance.
> Staff anticipates costs associated with preparing the building for this temporary lease,
they include, re- keying several doors estimated at $1500, replacing battery packs on exit
lighting estimated at $300 -$400, replacing parking lot lighting estimated at $600, and
replacing internal ballasts/bulbs estimated at $300.
Because of the recent request and immediate need of MN Renaissance to find a space to relocate
to, staff is in the process of preparing a lease agreement but does not have a lease agreement
completed for Council review this evening. Staff is requesting that if Council agrees with the
general terms outlined for the lease agreement or directs staff regarding changes to the terms and
conditions, that Council grant authority to the City Attorney and City Administrator to negotiate
the final terms of the lease agreement, based on Council direction this evening, that would allow
MN Renaissance to occupy the space by the end of January.
Staff Recommendation:
Consider authorizing the City Attorney and City Administrator to negotiate a lease agreement
according the terms and conditions outlined above and based on Council direction that will allow
MN Renaissance to occupy the space at the Old Municipal Center by the end of January.
Council Action:
Authorize the City Attorney and City Administrator to negotiate a lease agreement according the
terms and conditions outlined above and based on Council direction that will allow MN
Renaissance to occupy the space at the Old Municipal Center by the end of January.
Reviewed by:
City Administrator
CC: 01/13/2009
