<br />PUBLIC HEARINGS/BOARD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Public Hearing - Request for a Variance to Accessory Building <br />Sidewall Height Restrictions; Case of Chad and Melodie Storbakken <br /> <br />Chairperson Van 'Scoy closed the regular portion of the Board of Adjustment meeting at 7:04 <br />p.m. in order to conduct the public hearing. <br /> <br />Public Hearine: . <br /> <br />Chairperson Van Scoy called the public hearing to order at 7:04 p.m. <br /> <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik explained the City Code regulates not only <br />the overall height of accessory buildings, but also sidewall height. On properties less than two <br />acres mean gable heighti$ limited to 16 feet and sidewall height is limited to ten feet. She stated <br />the applicants are proposing to construct a detached accessory building that complies with the <br />overall mean gable height limit of sixteen feet but with sidewalls that are 13.5 feet tall in order to <br />provide inside storage of vehicles, recreational equipment, and other miscellaneous items. The <br />applicants are requesting a variance to construct an accessory building with sidewalls that are 3.5 <br />feet taller than permitted by City Code. She added the applicants have received written <br />statements from two neighboring property owners supporting this request. <br /> <br />Citizen Input <br /> <br />Chad Storbakken, 16021 Osmium Street NW, appeared before the Board of Adjustment and <br />stated he needs a 12- foot garage door to accommodate the larger vehicles he would like to store <br />inside. <br /> <br />Chairperson VanScoy asked if the building meets all other City Code requirements. <br /> <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik replied in the affirmative. <br /> <br />Motion by Board Member Cleveland, seconded by Board Member Rogers, to close the public <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Van Scoy, Board Members Cleveland, Rogers, <br />Brauer, Hunt, and Levine. Voting No: None.
