LEAGUE OF <br />MINNESOTA <br />CITIES <br />CONNECTING & INNOVATING <br />SINCE 1913 <br />November 13, 2008 <br />To: LMCIT members and agents <br />From: Pete Tritz <br />Re: Liability coverage limits <br />On July 1, 2009, the statutory liability limits will increase from $400,000 to $500,000 per <br />claimant, and from $1.2 million to $1.5 million per occurrence. Here's how LMCIT will <br />automatically adjust members' liability coverage to reflect the change. <br />Coverage written or renewed between July 1, 2008 -Nov. 15, 2008 <br />Members whose coverage was written between July 1, 2008 — Nov. 15, 2008, will receive an <br />automatic endorsement increasing their coverage limit to $1.5 million per occurrence effective <br />July 1, 2009.. There will be no additional change for this endorsement. <br />Coverage written or renewed between Nov. 15, 2008 -June 30, 2009 <br />All liability coverage written or renewed between Nov. 15, 2008 - June 30, 2009, will carry a limit <br />of $1.2 million per occurrence for claims incurred before July 1, 2009. For claims incurred on or <br />after July 1, 2009, liability coverage limits will increase to $1,5 million. The policy will be issued <br />with this language included. <br />Coverage written on or after July 1, 2009 <br />All members who renew after July 1, 2009, will be issued coverage with a $1.5 million per <br />occurrence limit. <br />Aggregate limits <br />The aggregate limit for the employers liability coverage provided under the Workers' <br />Compensation coverage will increase to $1.5 million. No other changes will occur in the sub - limits <br />or annual aggregate limits. When LMCIT's per - occurrence liability limit was adjusted during 2007 <br />to accommodate upcoming changes in statutory liability limits, the aggregate limits also were <br />adjusted to appropriately reflect the upcoming 2009 tort cap increases, <br />The change in aggregate limits for LMCIT's employers liability coverage provided under the <br />Workers' Compensation coverage document will increase to $1.5 million for all coverage written <br />or renewed on or after Jan.. 1, 2009. All work comp coverage written between July 1, 2008 —Dec. <br />31, 2008, will automatically increase to $1,5 million effective July 1, 2009.
