Ramsey Wants YOU..
Get Involved: Serve as an Advisor
to the City Council

The city of Ramsey is looking for
residents who are interested in par-
ticipating in the governance of their
community by serving as a board or
commission member on one of its
advisory commissions. The purpose
of an advisory commission is to make
specific recommendations to the City
Council on current issues facing the
city.
At its first meeting in January
2009, the City Council directed
that the process for appointing
board and commission members
be changed to consider incum-
bents and new applicants in one
collective recruitment, interview
and selection process. Previously,
incumbents were considered for re-
appointment in a separate process
prior to new applicants. Based
on that change in policy, the City
advisory commissions that will
have open seats in 2009 include the
Economic Development Author-
ity, Environmental Policy Board,
Park and Recreation Commission,
Planning Commission/Board of
Adjustment and the Public Safety
Committee.
New members will begin serv-
ing in early 2009 and terms typically

last four years, with some exceptions.
Meetings are generally held once
per month at the Ramsey Municipal
Center. Most advisory commission
members are paid a $25.00 per meet-
ing stipend.
Please visit the city's website at
www.ci.ramsey.mn.us and click on
"Advisory Commissions" to view
information on the current vacancies
or to print or complete an application
on-line. You may also call Human
Resources at 763-576-4301 for ad-
ditional information or to receive an
application.
Advisory commission seats are
open until filled: however, the first re-
view of applications is scheduled for
February 20,2009. To be consid-
ered for a seat on the advisory com-
mission of your choice, please submit
a completed application by February
20, 2009, to Human Resources at
the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550
Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, MN
55303.

Mayor
Bob Ramsey
to Hold Monthly
Town Hall
Meetings!
. . . .
.

You are invited to stop in for cof-
fee and a cookie and talk with Mayor
Bob Ramsey on the third Thursday of
the month at 7:00 pm.
