<br />I <br />--- <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />Topic Report: 2009 General Fund Budget <br />Amendm'ents due to State Aid Cuts <br />By: Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br /> <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Governor Pawlenty presented his budget proposal on Tuesday, January 27,2009, and as <br />anticipated, the City is proposed to receive a total cut in Market Value Homestead Credit <br />(MVHC) in the amount of $408,300. The City included $400,000 ofMVHC in the2009 <br />General Fund Budget, which was adopted on December 9, 2008, and thus $400,000 in . <br />budget amendments will need to be made to offset the aid cuts. <br /> <br />Staff has been looking at possible budget solutions and will present recommendations at <br />the worksession. <br /> <br />A request has been made regarding the city's timekeeping procedures and this issue will <br />also be addressed in the budget discussion as it relates to the City's biggest budget <br />expenditure: personnel.
