Vice Chair Dehen stated that the issue he wants to focus on is the possible Mallard Ponds gate. He asked if anyone was interested in opening the gate. The audience answered no. Commissioner Olson stated that she thinks that the City needs to post the other side of the gate and make sure it stays clear so there is emergency access. . Public Works Director Olson stated that it is cleared of snow, but it is usually done on the second day, because of the equipment needed. He stated that there are four options that could be considered outlined in the packet. City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the options and based on tonight's discussion, the closure of 142nd at Argon Street or leaving it as it is, are the two options still available. . Leroy Stromenger, 5337 142nd Lane, stated that this whole ca~ of worms was opened 18 years ago. He stated that Dysprosium was a dead end street then it was opened into Nowthen, but most of the people cutting through are just trying to cut through to get onto TH 47, which is hogwash. He stated that it is frustrating that they go through 143rd. Vice Chair Dehen asked ifhe supported a closure off of Argon between the service road and Argon. Mr. Stromenger stated that he would be in favor of that and wishes that Dysprosium would have never been opened up. He stated that he heard that the street was turned over to the State as a trunk highway. Mayor Gamec stated that it is an MSA road, but it is still a City street. Public Works Director Olson stated that there was discussion about the realignment of TH 47 and this was one of the options, but that idea, although it hasn't completely gone away, needs to be done in cooperation with Anoka. Mr. Stromenger stated that where the bridge goes over the railrQad tracks, his understanding was that 47 was supposed to come through there, but now the water tower sits there, and at the time Ramsey, which wasn't a City yet, didn't want the traffic. He stated that the problem has been created and he is concerned about someone getting killed here. Vice Chair Dehen asked if anybody present was opposed to closing that area off, between Argon and 142nd, except for emergency vehicles. Colin McGlone, 15890 St. Andrews Lane, stated that he owns a company that has to drive trucks. He stated that he could get stuck in the area and not be able to get out if he has to serve someone in the area.
