<br />Ramsey Fire Department <br />Year End Report for 2008 <br />Emergency Response <br />2008 recorded an extremely low dollar loss for fire caused damage estimated at <br />$158,700. This figure is for fire damage in Ramsey only, excluding Nowthen and any <br />mutual aid responses outside Ramsey. <br />• Total calls tallied 491 for 2008, this compares to 489 for 2007. <br />• Personal Injury accidents, as in the past, continues to be the single biggest <br />source of activity with 126 calls for service (up from 110 in 2007) or 26% of the <br />total <br />• Alarms were again the second largest activity with 117 calls for service (up from <br />104 in 2007) or 24% of the total. <br />• Illegal burning was again the third largest at 52 in 2008 although 2008 was down <br />considerably from72 in 2007. <br />2008 saw the 4th year RFD utilized a Duty Officer Response. This response sends 1-2 <br />fire- officers to less drastic incidents rather than a full department response. Types of <br />calls were some alarm calls, illegal burning, resident questions, Carbon Monoxide <br />Alarms, etc. The total number of Duty Officer Responses in 2008 was 180 as compared <br />to 174 in 2007. <br />Burns Township, which incorporated as the City of Nowthen in 2008 accounted for 61 <br />responses.
