EDA BUSINESS Case #1: 2008-9 Work Plan Update Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan reviewed that the EDA is involved in evaluating the goals and direction of its Work Plan on an annual basis. Staff has reviewed the 2008 Work Plan. The Board has been provided with a summary of last year's activity. Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan provided a PowerPoint presentation on the EDA 2008 Work Plan Recap and draft 2009 Work Plan. The Board discussed the following in relation to the 2008 Work Plan Recap: S. ^ Committed funding to signage for Sunfish Lake Commons o It was noted that this funding is intended to be in conjunction with road construction. Marketing ^ Zip code letter sent to postmaster Development Incentives /Land Purchases ^ Creation of another Business Park (MPCA unwilling) The Board discussed the following in relation to the 2009 Work Plan: TIF Incentives /Land Purchases / CDBG ^ It was noted that the area west of Armstrong Boulevard could be rezoned to a mixed use of retail/light industrial. The Comprehensive Plan Amendment has been submitted to the Metropolitan Council and adjacent jurisdictions for review. Once the comments have been received the Comprehensive Plan will be presented to the City Council for adoption. o Consensus was reached to add: Identify Options for Business Park Sites ^ Continue Pursuing Acquisition of MPCA Site o It was noted that the State is currently looking at disposing of assets to raise money due to the budget situation. o Consensus was reached to amend as follows: Identify MPCA timeline on MPCA Site S. igns ^ .City of Ramsey Business Park Signage o Consensus was reached to remove from the 2009 Work Plan; consider in a future Work Plan Marketing ^ Consensus was reached to add: Create Tracking System on Marketing ^ Discontinue to advertise in Real Estate Journal Economic Development Authority/January 8, 2009 Page 2 of 6
