CASE # <br />CQNSIDER AUTHORIZATION OF IMPRCOVEMENT PRQJECT #Q8-32 <br />ANDRIE STREET & 16~ I.,ANE STREET IIYIPROVEMENTS <br />By; Steven J. Jankowski, City Engineer <br />Background: <br />The City received a petition for various street and utility improvements. on May 20,.2008, <br />The attached feasibility. study outlines the project details, casts, and financing. A Public <br />hearing was held on~January 13, 2009. The waiting period specified by Section 4.60.05 <br />Sub.l of City Code for projects of this nature has passed and the Council may now act to <br />order the preparation of plans and specifications for the work outlined in'the feasibility <br />study. <br />Sidewalk Survey; <br />At the close of the public hearing Council directed staff to survey residents as to their <br />preference and feelings on the installation of a five foot concrete sidewalk on the north <br />and east side of these streets. Surveys which were mailed to all of the project property <br />awners on January 20, 2008 were returned by 55% of the 67 property awners, A <br />summary of the survey responses is presented on the attached table. Tlxe comments made <br />on these survey farms are also included clang with other correspondence received an this <br />issue. <br />Financing: <br />A summary of the project financing for the basic project (no sidewalk) and the alternate <br />project (with sidewalk) is presented below: <br />MSA / Storm Water Property <br />Total City Utility Owners <br />Basic Project Cost $ 1,233,539 $ 925,953 $ .193,686 $ 113,900 <br />Alternate Project Cost $ 1,591,233 $ 1,283,647 $ 193,686 $ 113,900 <br />Individual property owners will contribute the equivalent cost of a bituminous overlay on <br />the road which is estimated to cast $1,700. <br />Recammendatinn: <br />Staff recommends that this project be ordered and that the City Council direct that staff <br />prepare plans and specifications fax the impravements. <br />Action: <br />Motion to adopt resolution 09-02-XXX ordering Improvement Project #08=32 <br />Andrie Street & 164`h Lane Street Improvements, gild that staff be directed to prepare <br />plans. and specifications •for the improvements. <br />-107- <br />
