Project Proposal!

SUMMARY
The project proposal of the "Giver of Light Children's Garden" is brought forth to the Ramsey
City Council for the creation of a remembrance site dedicated to the memory of Luke John
Crotteau, as well as to the honor of all of Ramsey's young children. Luke Crotteau, age 2 '12
years, was tragically struck and killed by a car in the 147th Avenue and Junkite Street vicinity of
Ramsey, on July 26, 2008. This project is being proposed to signify Luke's memory, while also
serving to cherish all of the young lives of Ramsey that are indispensable to the community in
which they live, serve and are nurtured within.
Historically, when families and residents of Ramsey have suffered the unfortunate loss of
a child, positive and impacting deeds or legacies have been established. For example, the annual
Ramsey Kid's Safety Camp resulted and grew from the loss of a young boy who was struck and
killed as he rode his bike, as well as the plaque of homage housed in the entry of Ramsey
Elementary School that is dedicated to the memory. of Becky Weiss, who was also a young life
lost prematurely and as a result of a tragic accident. These are just two instances of the ways in
which the City of Ramsey has previously paid rightful respect to the young lives lost; serving to
remind the community and residents of Ramsey that every life, especially those of our YOWlg
ones, are valued and remembered.
The individuals representing this proposed project are Ramsey Residents, Barbara Groth
and Andrea Seiberlich, along with supporting representation from surrounding neighbors. These
supporters will be provided at the time the official maintenance agreement is executed.
Additionally, the aforementioned individuals have pledged their commitment to the on-going
maintenance of the site. In the unforeseen event that all supporting residents of this site would
relocate from Ramsey, the immediate family members of Luke Crotteau have pledged their
continuous dedication to care of the site.

-10-
