<br />Ramsey residents. Staff envisions a setup similar to trade shows that would utilize the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center and possibly the Fountains of Ramsey if additional space is needed. <br /> <br />There was discussion on the suggestion to tie the proposed Business Expo to the Environmental <br />Expo. Member LeTourneau stated his support of combining the events. Economic Development <br />Coordinator Sullivan expressed concern with creating a new event and tying it to an existing <br />event and in planning on the use of outdoor space for an April event due to the likelihood of cold <br />weather. <br /> <br />Motion by Member LeTourneau, seconded by Member Skaff, to direct staff to combine the <br />Environmental Expo with a new element of the Business Expo on April 25, 2009. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: There was discussion on costs associated with the Business Expo, including <br />food, signage, advertising, invitations and venue rental. Staff recommends authorization of EDA <br />funding in an amount not to exceed $4,000. . <br /> <br />The motion on the floor was amended as follows: <br /> <br />Motion by Member LeTourneau, seconded by Member Skaff, to direct staff to combine the <br />Environmental Expo with a new element of the Business Expo on April 25, 2009, and to <br />authorize an amount not to exceed $4,000 to help fund the event. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members LeTourneau, Skaff and Steffen. <br />Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan requested authorization to <br />proceed with a backup plan if the Fountains of Ramsey is not available on April 25th. He <br />suggested the backup plan include the date of March 28, 2009 with the Business Expo as a <br />separate event from the Environmental Expo. <br /> <br />Consensus was reached to authorize staff to proceed with the backup plan recommended above <br />for the 2009 Business Expo ifthe Fountains of Ramsey is not available on April 25, 2009. <br /> <br />Member LeTourneau stressed his support of the 2009 Business Expo and that the first year of the <br />event does not need to be a "homerun". <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Buxton Update / Meeting <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan reviewed that the EDA directed staff to contact <br />Buxton and to send out marketing pursuit packages matches. Brandon Norrell of Buxton has <br />recommended sending out the packages for the smaller users in early 2009 rather than before <br />Christmas. A request was made on December 31,2008 to have pursuit packages be sent to: Tim <br />Horton, Big Apple Bagels, Panera Bread, Uno Restaurants, Great Harvest Bread Co., Dunkin <br />Donuts, TGI Fridays, Hollywood Tan and Play It Again Sports.
