PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA

The Ramsey Public Works Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday,
December 15, 1998, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW,
Ramsey, Minnesota. '

Members Present:

Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman
Mayor Thomas Gamec (Alternate)

Also Present:

City Administrator James E. Norman
City Engineer Steve Jankowski
Director of Public Works Dean Kapler

CALL TO ORDER

Councilmember Zimmerman called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee
to order at 5:13 p.m.

CITIZEN INPUT

None

COMMITTEE BUSINESS

Case #1:

Request for Stop Signs at 144th Lane and Tungsten Way

City Engineer Jankowski stated that the City received a request from Shelly Peterson of
6140 - 144th Lane NW, to place a stop sign at the intersection of 144th and Tungsten
Way. Staff viewed the intersection for sight distance from all four approaches and it was
determined that the sight distances are no poorer at this intersection than any randomly
chosen intersection in the sewer and water district which have similar structure setbacks.

Shelly Peterson, 6140 - 144th Lane NW, Ramsey, stated that she made the request
because speed is a big factor, even the busses speed.

Joshua Kaeppe, 6180 - 144th Lane NW, Ramsey, stated that he has two small children
and he is concerned with the way people "fly" down that road because it's a straight a
way. The amount of traffic is also a concern. He felt that it's up to the elected officials
to listen to what the people who elected them instead of just listening to the City
Engineer's reports.

Public Works Committee/December 15,1998
Page 1 of5
