<br />B. SECTION 9.12.03, Subd. 11 of the City Code is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Subd. 11. Flags. <br /> <br />The display of flags shall be permitted in all districts. However, the total square footage <br />area of any flag used as advertising copy or as attention getting devices for commercial <br />purposes shall be considered as permanent signage and counted towards the total <br />allowable sign area permitted by this Section for the parcel on which the flag(s) is <br />displayed. <br /> <br />The height of a flag-pole may not exceed forty (40) feet, or the building height regulations <br />for the underlying district where the pole is located, whichever is less. The flag length <br />may not exceed 25% of the flag pole height, and no more than two flags per pole are <br />permitted. Footings for flag-poles are subject to review by the Building Official or <br />his/her designee. Flag-poles are subject to a setback equal to the height of the flag-pole <br />from all property lines or public parking lots. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. SUMMARY <br /> <br />The following is the official summary of Ordinance 09-03-_ which has been approved by the <br />City Council of the City of Ramsey as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the <br />Ordinance. <br /> <br />This ordinance is intended to: <br />. Limit the height of flag-poles to the maximum building height of the underlying zoning district, <br />or forty (40) feet high, whichever is less. <br />. Limit the length of flags to not exceed 25% of the pole height. <br />. Require that flag-pole footings are reviewed. <br />. Require a setback equal to the height of the flag-pole. <br />. Limit each flag pole to only display two (2) flags at once. <br /> <br />SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> <br />The effective date of this Ordinance is thirty (30) days after its passage and publication, subject <br />to City Charter Section 5.07. <br /> <br />Ordinance #09-_ <br />Page 2 of3 <br /> <br />19 <br />
