Board Member Max thought that by having topics relevant to the public they would be able to
draw in more people this year, who would then attend the presentations.
Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he had not yet heard back from the bee lab at
the University of Minnesota, but wanted them to come back again this year. He stated that he is
also working to have the tree house of horrors again. He stated that he is also working to have
the herpetological center present again. He advised that he would be extending an invitation to
the Raptor Center, as that had been a positive aspect of the event.
Board Member Max preferred a similar setup to the previous year's event. He explained that it
was more of an open setup, rather than a presentation, but advised that residents were able to ask
questions, which almost made it a presentation. He suggested that the folks be given
microphones so that people in the back of the room could also hear the answers to the questions.
Chairperson McDilda thought that issue should be left open for the time being and discussed at
the next meeting.
Board Member Max stated that this expo is now at a turning point and has evolved from the
school to the City Hall. He thought that the Board should continue to work with Environmental
Coordinator Anderson, so that the work does not all fall onto his shoulders.
Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that a case would be added to the Board's next
meeting regarding the Expo. He asked that the Board Members, who volunteered to help out,
continue to work on their items and bring back the information ready for the next meeting. He
thanked the Board for their continued efforts.
Board Member Bentz volunteered to make a call to the geological society to determine if they
would be interested in having a booth.
BOARD INPUT
None.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Board Member Freeburg and seconded by Board Member Stodola to adjourn the
meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Chris Anderson
Environmental Coordinator
ATTEST:
Environmental Policy Board / February 2, 2009
Page 7 of 8
