all persons inquiring about swim lessons or season passes are informed that Andover
(previous~y) and Ramsey have subsidized the offering of resident rates (if applicable).

Anoka's Recreation Supervisor ~lso added that in light of the decline in season pass
purchases, they anticipate offering 'punch card' purchases, such that differing family
members could use the aquatic center - as opposed to just those named when buying
season passes. In addition, she indicated that they could provide brochure information to
Ramsey Elementary and PACT Charter schools for the students to take home, as well as
potentially other venues. She also added that the mailing list for 2009 Aquatic
Center flyer includes 525 Ramsey households out of 2000.

The other information that the Commission may wish to consider is that, Anoka County Parks'
Bunker Beach facility continues to gain in popularity and anticipated to open for the summer
season in2010, will be the addition of a 'Lazy River' feature to compliment the other features
there.

Attached for your information are the items from February's case, along with the flyer
mentioned above, as well as other promotional items.

Commission Action:

Motion to recommend to City Council a position on the City of Anoka's proposal, based. upon
discussion.

Reviewed by:
Director of Public Works/Principal City Engineer
Civil Engin~er

../

P&R:

03/12/09
