~:4Se ~' ~ <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ANOKA COUNTY REGIONAL RAIL AUTHORITY <br />AND NORTHSTAR CORRIDOR DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO INITIATE THE FINAL <br />DESIGN AND ENVIRONMENTAL DOCUMENTATION TO PROVIDE A FULLY <br />FUNCTIONING RAIL STATION IN THE CITY OF RAMSEY <br />By: Kurtis G. Ulrich, City Administrator <br />Background: ` <br />In early 2008, the City of Ramsey requested the Anoka County Regional Rail Authority and the <br />Northstar Corridor Development Authority to initiate preliminary design and environmental work for <br />the Ramsey Station as a part of the Northstar Commuter Rail Project. The preliminary design and <br />environmental work is substantially complete. With the anticipated start date of November 2009 for <br />Northstar Commuter Rail Service; it is imperative that final design and environmental documentation <br />for the Ramsey Station proceed immediately to -allow for the Ramsey Station to come on-line after <br />service begins at the phase one stations. <br />A resolution formally requesting final design and environmental documentation for a Ramsey <br />Station is attached to this case for council consideration. -Staff will coordinate the presentation of this <br />resolution to the NCDA and the ACRRA at their upcoming meetings. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />By motion, approve Resolution No. 09-03-XX, Requesting the Anoka County Regional Rail <br />Authority and Northstar Corridor Development Authority <br />Council Action: <br />By motion, approve Resolution No. 08-01- ,Requesting the Anoka County Regional Rail <br />Authority and Northstar Corridor Development Authority Initiate the Final Design and Environmental <br />Documentation to Provide a Fully Functioning Rail Station in the City of Ramsey. <br />Reviewed by: <br />Public Works Director ~\~'~" <br />City Administrator: ~-- <br />CC: 03/24/09 <br />-1-27- <br />
