Absent: Commissioner Roselle. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Johnson and seconded by Commissioner Rustad to approve the <br />Park and Recreation meeting minutes dated December 13, 1990. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: Commissioner Roselle. <br /> <br />NOTE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />The Park and Recreation Commission members noted the following City Council meeting <br />minutes: <br /> <br />1 ) City Council special meeting minutes dated December 5, 1990. <br /> <br />2 ) City Council regular meeting minutes dated December 11, 1990. <br /> <br />NOTE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />1 ) Planning and Zoning special meeting minutes dated December 6, 1990. <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1 Peltzer Park review. <br /> <br />Chairman Hetland explained that the Park and Recreation Commission is reviewing the <br />City's existing parks and are requesting input from the Citizens regarding what they <br />would like to see done in their parks in the future. <br /> <br />Lyle Hanson, 6905 - 151 st Avenue NW, informed the Commission that although he lives <br />only lwo blocks from Peltzer Park he will not allow his children to play there because he <br />does not feel it is safe. He is concerned about the fact that the park is surrounded by water <br />and fears that some of this water is surface water from the Landfill. <br /> <br />Commissioner Swokowski inquired as to the depth of the water. <br /> <br />Mark Boos, Park/Utilities Coordinator- stated that he does not believe the water is very <br />deep, however, the bottom is quite soft such as in a swamp. <br /> <br />Richard Netzleff, 15040 Kamacite Street NW- told the Commission that eight years ago <br />the water was 12 feet deep and that there was a channel running through the center of it. <br />Mr. Netzleff aisc expressed concerns regarding the safety of some broken and dead trees in <br />the park and the safety of the run-off water from the Landfill. <br /> <br />Chairman Hetland expressed his concern with the condition and depth of the water in <br />Petlzer Park. <br /> <br />Bruce Bacon, Environmental Specialist- offered to contact Anoka County to have the water <br />tested at Peltzer Park. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION / JANUARY 10, 1991 <br /> PAGE 2 OF 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
