Voting Yes: Mayor Ramsey, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Dehen, Look,
McGlone, and Wise. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Elvig.
Case #2: Introduce Ordinance to Amend City Code Chapter 9.03 (Administration)
Related to an Administrative Site Plan Review Process in Business and
Employment Districts; Case of City of Ramsey
Associate Planner Gladhill presented the staff report.
Councilmember Dehen stated that he supports simplifying processes and costs for residents but
has concern about oversight. He suggested including a step to have the City Administrator sign
off so there is one more check in place to make sure there isn't something wild and really
unusual that gets through administratively.
Associate Planner Gladhill noted that approval is at the discretion of the Zoning Administrator
and also they proposed that any Site Plan approval handled administratively would be noted in
the Consent Agenda as well as notification to the Planning Commission at their monthly
meeting.
Councilmember Look stated that if it just in the Consent Agenda, the Council wouldn't be keyed
into the process and wouldn't have answers to questions from residents or neighbors.
Community Development Director Miller suggested that the information could be included in the
Weekly Update with some background information.
City Council / March 24, 2009
