Consent# 8 REVIEW AND ADOPT MIDYEAR 2009 AMENDED GENERAL FUND BUDGET By: Diana Lund, Finance Officer Background: Council amended the 2009 General Fund budget at the March 24, 2009 City Council meeting. Included in this amendment was the reduction of the second half payment of the Anoka Hennepin Community Education School Program in the amount of$16,888. After the adoption of this amendment, staff met with school representatives and learned that a Joint Powers Agreement existed between the City and Anoka Hennepin School District. This JPA was entered into on January 28, 1992, and termination of the agreement requires that the City send written notice to the Community School Advisory Committee at least one hundred and eighty days prior to termination. As the one hundred eighty day termination clause cannot be met for calendar year 2009, the City is responsible for the second half community school payment. Funding in the amount Of $16,888 will come from the 2009 Council Contingency Fund. The current unencumbered balance in this account is $75,252. At year end, the City will once again be amending the 2009 General Fund budget to reflect more acc.urately the actual expenditures and revenues of the City for year 2009. Funding: No additional funding required. Staff Recommendation: Approve attached Resolution #09-04-XXX Amending the 2009 General Fund Budget to reinstate the second half community education payment in the amount of $16,888.
