Chairperson Johns questioned in regard to naming rights, to ensure that the park would not be named for a commercial brand. Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that would apply to major contributions, such as $4,000,000. Chairperson Johns advised that Commissioner Shryock sent an email regarding the item and stated that in general she liked the idea but requested further clarification on the language on item number seven of the draft item. Parks Supervisor Riverblood questioned if the Commission would like to add another item stating that the City reserves the right to make changes if need be. Chairperson Johns was in agreement with that item but thought item seven covered that base. She thought that language could be added to item seven to make that point more clear. Motion by Commissioner Backous, seconded by Commissioner Erickson to recommend adoption of a policy for accepting park donations, monuments, memorials, and other improvements. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Erickson, Backous, Barr, Hansen, and LaMere. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Shryock. Case #2: Consider Request to Adopt-A-Spot and Construct Trailside Memorial Improvements and Proposed Development and Maintenance Al Haugen advised that this was a request to consider a request to accept a memorial located near Sunwood Drive and Nowthen Boulevard. He advised that the parcel is identified as parkland and an application for an Adopt-a-Spot had been received, as well as preliminary meetings conducted with the applicant and the City Council. He advised that the memorial would honor all the young. lives in the City of Ramsey and displayed two proposed sites for the memorial. He advised that the applicant requested the two sites, the first abutting residential parcels and the second not abutting any residential properties. He advised that the improvements for the sites would include restoration of the areas, benches, and general improvements. He advised that the concerns of the City Council included one of the plants on the list being identified as potentially evasive, drainage being kept away from the sidewalk, if adequate parking was available, who would be included in the memorial, and if a better site would be available. He advised that written into the maintenance agreement is the insurance of funds to ensure that the project is completed in a timely manner. He advised that the applicant was also present for any questions. Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that Ramsey Elementary School is near one of the sites, along with trails bordering the area. He advised that the other proposed location also has bordering trails. Chairperson Johns questioned if the applicant had a preference on the site location.
