<br />Chairperson Johns questioned in regard to naming rights, to ensure that the park would not be <br />named for a commercial brand. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that would apply to major contributions, such as <br />$4,000,000. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns advised that Commissioner Shryock sent an email regarding the item and <br />stated that in general she liked the idea but requested further clarification on the language on item <br />number seven of the draft item. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood questioned if the Commission would like to add another item <br />stating that the City reserves the right to make changes if need be. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns was in agreement with that item but thought item seven covered that base. <br />She thought that language could be added to item seven to make that point more clear. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Backous, seconded by Commissioner Erickson to recommend adoption <br />of a policy for accepting park donations, monuments, memorials, and other improvements. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Erickson, Backous, Barr, <br />Hansen, and LaMere. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Shryock. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Consider Request to Adopt-A-Spot and Construct Trailside Memorial <br />Improvements and Proposed Development and Maintenance <br /> <br />Al Haugen advised that this was a request to consider a request to accept a memorial located near <br />Sunwood Drive and Nowthen Boulevard. He advised that the parcel is identified as parkland and <br />an application for an Adopt-a-Spot had been received, as well as preliminary meetings conducted <br />with the applicant and the City Council. He advised that the memorial would honor all the young. <br />lives in the City of Ramsey and displayed two proposed sites for the memorial. He advised that <br />the applicant requested the two sites, the first abutting residential parcels and the second not <br />abutting any residential properties. He advised that the improvements for the sites would include <br />restoration of the areas, benches, and general improvements. He advised that the concerns of the <br />City Council included one of the plants on the list being identified as potentially evasive, <br />drainage being kept away from the sidewalk, if adequate parking was available, who would be <br />included in the memorial, and if a better site would be available. He advised that written into the <br />maintenance agreement is the insurance of funds to ensure that the project is completed in a <br />timely manner. He advised that the applicant was also present for any questions. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that Ramsey Elementary School is near one of <br />the sites, along with trails bordering the area.
