currently interpreting City Code to allow these types of structures as an accessory
structure under the current ordinance as a policy. Staff would like to solidify this
interpretation through City Code to avoid any ambiguity. Construction of car ports
currently counts as part of the accessory structure allowance for a parcel. Staff would
recommend that these structures be allowed only if attached to an existing structure and
not as a standalone structure.

Staff will be prepared to provide graphic examples of each of these types of
structures/equipment at the Work Session. Furthermore, Staff would like to take this
opportunity to explore the options of regulating these types of uses based on location
within the City (i.e. MUSA vs. Non-MUSA).

Action Statement:

Based on Discussion.

Reviewed by:

CCWS:

05/05/20Q9

Attachments:
Attachment A: City Code Section 9.11.02 Subd. 4 (Accessory Buildings)
