~

~wr~

.;

July 18, 1985

Mr. Harry Nemec
Minnesota Department of Transportation
Department of Aeronautics
Room 417
Transportation Building
St. Paul, MN 55155

Re: Entry of Gateway North Industrial Airport into the
State Airport System Plan

Dear Mr. Nemec:

The City of Ramsey is in the final stages of completing the Master
Plan Study for Gateway North Industrial Airport. As you are aware,
acquisition of the existing airport and future airfield improvements
are unlikely to occur without federal and state funding participation.

As a prerequisite to funding eligibility, the airport must be included
in state and national system plans. We are, therefore, submitting
relevant information and requesting that Gateway North be placed in
the State Airport System Plan.

The number of based aircraft and estimated operations for 1985 have
been revised to reflect the number of based aircraft as of June 5,
1985. The future years reflect the forecasts and recommend~d develop-
ment as indicated in the Master Plan Study. ..

A request was made June 28 for FAA site endorsement and reqiuest for
entry into the NPIAS will be made following a positive finqing for
entry into the State System Plan. ..

I have also attached a list of communities which current a~rport
owners reside in or where their businesses are located. A~l is readily
apparent, Gateway does service aviation demands of communi~!ies located
more than 30 minutes from Anoka County Airport as well as ~hose within
the communities of Ramsey and Anoka.
