facilitate cooperation with this program, He stated that they are suggesting an individual meter <br />read tee. of $50.00, after a final certified letter is delivered for those that don't transfer over, <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that they are, proposing that at this point they will. just be <br />done, because staff has spent countless hours trying to gain access to make the change, <br />Councilmember Dehen asked how many haven't changed aver and ignored the notices. <br />Utilities Supervisor Nelson stated that it is just under 30 units, <br />Counciimember .Dehen asked if the City has tried weekends because there are people that just <br />aren't home during the hours he mentioned. <br />Utilities Supervisor Nelson stated that they have not tried weekends, but he does have a guy that <br />is willing to switch a Friday shift with a Saturday shift to try on weekends. <br />Councilmember Dehen suggested that the City try weekends and makes sure that it has good <br />documentation of ail the notices that are left. <br />Utilities Supervisor Nelson stated that he lcnarvs vt Drily two of the properties that are in the <br />toreGlasure process. <br />Councilrr~ember McGlone asked if the City is requiring .people to upgrade and who owns the <br />meter. <br />Utilities Supervisor Nelson stated that, originally, the builder pays for the meter when the home <br />is built, but the City maintains the meter. <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that the City awns the meter. <br />Councilmember Dehen asked if a $50.00 fee per quarter tivas enough. <br />Public ~rVorks Director Olson stated that he thinks it is enough to get their attention, because it <br />will be $200 a year, <br />Councilmem.ber McGlone stated that he feels it should be something closer to $1OQ per quarter. <br />Matiar~ by Councilmember McGlone, seconded by Councilrrtember Dehen, to reaamrnend to the <br />City Council that a quarterly fee of $100 "individual meter read" be placed on .the water utility <br />bill beginning after written notice is provided, <br />Fttrtller Discussion; ,Chair Elvig stated that his .concern is what precedent is sit compared to <br />what the other fees are in the City. Councilrnernber McGlone asked what would happen if the. <br />City did the same thing as it does for the sprinkling ban, without the water turn off.
