CASE #
SUMMARY FOR 200$-2009 SNOW REMOVAL SEASON
By: Grant Riemer, Streets Supervisor
Background:
This case is meant to be a brief review of the 2008-2009 snow removal season along with a
PowerPoint presentation at the meeting. This snow removal season consisted of 10 major
plowing events with 6 of the events happening in December and 19 minor events. Major events
consist of calling in a full crew, plus part time staff. Minor events normally consist of sanding
intersections, plowing/sanding main routes, drift control, etc.... Our fixst full scale plowing
operation was on December 6, 2009.
Telephone complaints that we received were similar in number to most years:
• 18 - .Mailbox damage
• 12 -Sod damage.
• 50 -Miscellaneous
The miscellaneous category covers everything from snow at the end of my driveway. to a
sidewalk that got missed or an icy intersection.
Our equipment held up well with only routine maintenance required for the most part.
Committee Action:
No Action Necessary
Reviewed by:
Director of Public Works/Principal City Engineer
Public Works Supervisors
PW: 04/21/09
-143-
