Attached is an ordinance that makes the Code of
Conduct a separate section and creates new language to address the removal of board and
commission members. The language regarding the removal of board and commission members
states that members may be removed with or without cause by a majority vote of the City
Council. The ordinance was brought to Council for introduction at their April 28, 2009 meeting.
Based upon guidance from the City Attorney, staff has amended the ordinance to clarify -that the
provisions regarding the removal of board and commission members does not apply to the
Charter Commission or to the Economic Development Authority as the removal of these
members is covered by State Statutes.
Funding
There is no funding required to adopt this ordinance.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the ordinance amending City Code Section 2.03,
Boards and Commissions.
Council Action
Motion to waive the reading and adopt Ordinance #09-XX amending City Code Section 2.03,
Boards and Commissions.
Roll Call: Councilmember Dehen
Councilmember Elvig
Councilmember Look
Councilmember McGlone
Councilmember Jeffrey
Councilmember Wise
Mayor Ramsey
Attachment:
• Proposed ordinance amending City Code Section 2.03 Boards and Commissions.
Reviewed By:
City Administrator:
CC: 05/12/09
