Case #1: Environmental Expo and Booth Discussion
Environmental Coordinator Anderson presented the staff report.
The Board generally discussed staffing of the booth. It was apparent that there would likely be
sufficient coverage throughout the event and so no specific shifts were identified.
Board Member Freeburg reminded the others that he would not be able to attend the expo event
this year.
Acting Chairperson Max and Board Members Stodola and Bentz all stated that they would be
available to assist with some of the. setup work Friday evening.
Case #2 Wetland Protection Ordinance `Status
Environmental Coordinator Anderson presented the staff report.
Board Member Freeburg recommended that a thank you letter be sent to Jamie Schurbon and
Dennis Rodacker with the Anoka Conservation District for Mr. Schurbon's review and comment
on the wetland buffer ordinance.
Discussion on this ensued with the Board ultimately deciding that a thank you letter from the
Board, not the City, would be sent.
Motion by Board Member Freeburg and seconded by Board Member Stodola that the
Environmental Policy Board send a thank you letter to Mr. Schurbon and Mr. Rodacker.
Motion carried. Voting Yes: Acting Chairperson Max, Board Members Bentz, Freeburg, and
Stodola.. Voting No: None. Absent: Chairperson McDilda and Board Member Sibilski.
Case #3: Arbor Day Event
Environmental Coordinator Anderson presented the staff report.
Mr. John Enstrom stated that he would like to see the City offer some sort of memorial tree in
remembrance of Ramsey soldiers that have lost their lives..
Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that the Park and Recreation Commission was
going to be discussing a memorial tree/garden policy at their next meeting and that ultimately,
the policy would be discussed by City Council: He stated that the policy should be finalized
before any type of memorial tree is considered.
The Board determined that the Arbor Day planting event should occur as part of their regular
May meeting.
BOARD INPUT
Environmental Policy Board / Apri16, 2009
Page 2 of 3
