Case # 0— <br />Authorization to Seek Proposals <br />for Nuisance Abatement Services <br />By Chief James Way & William K Goodrich <br />Background: <br />The City of Ramsey has been using local vendors for abatement services that include mowing <br />and blight clean up. Abatements have increased over the past year and the recent rise in home <br />foreclosures in the City adds to the locations needing clean up. To expedite the abatement <br />process, staff is asking for authorization to seek proposals for contracted abatement services. <br />A notice will be published in the Anoka County Union on May 29, 2009. The deadline for <br />proposals will be June 19, 2009 at 4:30 pm. <br />In addition to the vendors that the City has been using for these services, staff is aware of four <br />additional contractors that have shown interest in providing proposals. These vendors will be <br />mailed requests for proposals during the release date. <br />Funding Source: <br />Administration- posting of a public notice in the Anoka Co Union. <br />Attachments: <br />Request for Proposal. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Authorize staff to request proposals for Nuisance Abatement Services. <br />Council Action: <br />Motion by City Council to adopt Resolution 09 -XXXX authorizing staff to formally advertise for <br />"Request for Proposal" for abatement services with the intended purpose to secure a contract <br />with a vendor for two (2) years. <br />Reviewed by: <br />Police Chief <br />City Attorney <br />City Administrator <br />
