Case # 0—
Authorization to Seek Proposals
for Nuisance Abatement Services
By Chief James Way & William K Goodrich
Background:
The City of Ramsey has been using local vendors for abatement services that include mowing
and blight clean up. Abatements have increased over the past year and the recent rise in home
foreclosures in the City adds to the locations needing clean up. To expedite the abatement
process, staff is asking for authorization to seek proposals for contracted abatement services.
A notice will be published in the Anoka County Union on May 29, 2009. The deadline for
proposals will be June 19, 2009 at 4:30 pm.
In addition to the vendors that the City has been using for these services, staff is aware of four
additional contractors that have shown interest in providing proposals. These vendors will be
mailed requests for proposals during the release date.
Funding Source:
Administration- posting of a public notice in the Anoka Co Union.
Attachments:
Request for Proposal.
Staff Recommendation:
Authorize staff to request proposals for Nuisance Abatement Services.
Council Action:
Motion by City Council to adopt Resolution 09 -XXXX authorizing staff to formally advertise for
"Request for Proposal" for abatement services with the intended purpose to secure a contract
with a vendor for two (2) years.
Reviewed by:
Police Chief
City Attorney
City Administrator
