The crossings to be affected are 2"d Street (USDOT <br />crossing #391233Y), and Jrd Street (USDOT crossing #3912325), Please disregard un earlier <br />Notice of Intent submitted by the City of Hastings dated 12/27/2007. <br /> <br />A portion of the improvements necessary for the Quiet Zone were constnlcted in 2007, but will be <br />modified to comply with F~.A approved Iltllndards for Quiet Zone SupplementAl Safety Measures <br />(SSMs). When completed, the improvements will consist ofa 100+ foot long norHraversable <br />median on the west side of the crossing, a 90+ foot long non-traversable median on the east side of <br />the crossing, automatic signals ,,11.1:; !l1111S, and closure of two street access points within the first 100 <br />feet west of the railroad tracks at the 2'\d Street cl'ossing (USDOT #391233Y), (IS well as complete <br />closure of the 31'd Street crossing (USDOT #3912325) from public use by way of locking vehicle <br />gates, The vehicle gates l1t 31~1 Street will be operated by authorized City personnel for the <br />purposes of emergency access and maintenance (snow & debris removal). The gates will also be <br />operated by a1.tthol'ized CP Rail personnel for the pUl'po~es of access and maintenance of their yard. <br /> <br />I have enclosed the required FM notification fonns for the Notice of Intent to Create a New Quiet <br />Zone for your review.
