Public Works Street Supervisor Grant Riemer responded this year there were only
18, but the reasoning was, later in the seaSon there was considerable ice build up along the curb,
which caused the plow wing to go up. Another fact he stated was that some of them may not
have been uamaged by the City at all. When the driver comes upon a damaged mailbox and staff
doesn't get out there soon enough to get a picture and the residents reports it as City damaged,
we have no proof that we didn't do it.

Councilmember McGlone wanted it on record that he thinks at some point it should be discussed
to raise the $75 reimbursement fee to better cover the expense of the mailbox inaterials.

Public Works Street Supervisor Grant Riemer summarized the 2008~2009 snow removal season
with the mileage of the full scale of openltion being the number of cuI de sacs and dead ends,
miles of sidewalks and trails, two tire stations, municipal parking lot and parking ramp, parking
lots tn some of the parks. He reviewed all the equipment routes and equipment used. The salt
and sand used and the budget. He reviewed what determines when to start plowing. CuI de sac
pl~wing procedures and boulevard staking policy. How sod damage is handled.

Public Works Committee / April 21, 2009
Page 5 of9
