Case* 7 <br />CONSIDER PROPOSALS FOR LEGAL SERVICES <br />By: Heidi A. Nelson, Asst. City Administrator <br />Background: <br />At the regular City Council meeting of February 10, 2009, an RFP (Request for <br />Proposals) for Legal Services for the City of Ramsey was authorized. The advertisement period <br />for the RFP was March 2, 2009 through April 3, 2009. The RFP was advertised in the Anoka <br />County Union, on the League of MN Cities website, City of Ramsey website, and the RFP was <br />mailed to metro area law firms. Twelve (12) proposals were received by the deadline of Friday, <br />April 3` at 4:30 p.m. from the following law firms (alphabetical order): <br />Barna, Guzy and Steffen, Ltd. <br />Berglund and Berglund, Ltd. <br />Campbell Knutson <br />Couri, MacArthur and Ruppe, LLP <br />Flaherty Hood PA <br />Hawkins and Baumgartner, PA <br />Johnson Condon, PA <br />Kelly and Lemmons, PA <br />Knaak and Kantrud, PA <br />Randall and Goodrich, PLC <br />Stephen A. Baker <br />Sweeney, Borer and Sweeney <br />At the May 12 work session, City Council interviewed the following six firms: <br />Barna, Guzy and Steffen, Ltd. <br />Campbell Knutson <br />Hawkins and Baumgartner, PA <br />Knaak and Kantrud, PA <br />Randall and Goodrich, PLC <br />Sweeney, Borer and Sweeney <br />Following the interviews of May 12 Council discussed each of the firms during a work session <br />of May 26 2009. Council directed staff to prepare a contract with Randall and Goodrich, PLC <br />utilizing the retainer proposal for Council consideration. The draft contract is attached for <br />Council review and consideration. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Consider contract with Randall and Goodrich for civil and prosecution legal services for the City <br />of Ramsey. <br />
