PRESENTATION — The City's Auditing Firm of Malloy Montague, Karnowski,
Radosevich & Company — City's 2008 Audit
Finance Officer Lund introduced Aaron Nielson of Malloy, Montague, Karnowski, Radosevich
and Company to present the 2008 Financial Report.
Councilmember Jeffrey left the Council Chambers at 7:08 p.m.
Mr. Nielson briefly reviewed the 2008 Financial Report information and noted that they have
issued a clean designation for the reports.
Councilmember Dehen left the Council Chambers at 7:10 p.m.
Mr. Nielson noted that the utility funds did end the year with positive assets.
Councilmember Jeffrey returned to the Council Chambers at 7:11 p.m.
Councilmember Elvig stated that it is important to note that citizens have had concerns that the
City is in financial trouble and from the comments from the auditor and winning the earlier
award for 13 straight years, it seems clear that the City is in good financial health. He noted that
the financial reports are open for the citizens in the City to review.
Finance Officer Lund noted that the public copy will be available in the reception area and on the
website, beginning Wednesday, June 10, 2009, and can be found under the Finance Department
tab.
CITIZEN INPUT
Leroy Kessler, 6774 137 Avenue, stated that he would like to know why there was an elaborate
sprinkler system put in, by the City, in a nearby park that is never used.
Councilmember Dehen returned to the Chambers at 7:13 p.m.
Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that the irrigation system was approved and paid for
completely by Park Dedication fees and had been planned for many years. He stated that it was
felt that the adjoining properties were irrigated and there had been complaints from neighbors
relating to dandelions on this property. He noted that the irrigation system is not quite ready to
be up and running, but it will be operational soon.
Mr. Kessler stated that he just wanted to be assured that the taxpayers would not be assessed for
this project.
The Citizen Input portion of the meeting ended at 7:17 p.m
City Council / June 9, 2009
