Mayor Ramsey suggested getting rid of the membership to Lower Rum River Water
Management Organization, and the Highway 10/169 coalition - that's done.

City Administrator Ulrich replied that it is not done yet but that we have met to talk about
doing things cheaper.

Community Development Director Miller asked about funding the environmental expo.

Councilmember McGlone asked if there was a way to rethink about how we are funding
that event.

Councilmember Look inquired if we have put in the budget discussions about doing the
Ramsey Resident in conjunction with other things.

Ms. Nelson stated that we have talked about different ideas for raising money for
different events.

Councilmember Elvig asked about a fee for vendors in the expos.

Councilmember Look stated that we had quite a few participants. It would be good to
send a letter to them and say we are looking for 36 to 40 advertisers - first come - first
serve, and see if there is any interest.

MAYOR COUNCIL & STAFF INPUT

1) Realtor for Two Acres next to Coborn's

City Administrator Ulrich stated that with regard to the two acres next to Coborn's, staff
has been talking with a Realtor and he would like a 3.5% selling fee. He would bring a
buyer to us. Mr. Ulrich stated that he will work out the details with Attorney Goodrich
and bring this item back for action on the regular Council agenda.

2) Legal Firms

City Administrator Ulrich stated that the Finance Committee made a recommendation to
interview two law firms - Randall & Goodrich and Barna Guzy. It's been suggested that
we would bring in additional firms for an interview and we can do that.

Councilmember Look stated that we have had a request to look at three more first. It
would be three additional firms and it will give us a better idea of services.

Councilmember Elvig felt it was important to have firms that are located closely to the
area. If we are looking at someone in St. Paul, he would not be interested.

City Council Work Session - May 5, 2009
