SPONSORSIDP OF ALLINA EVENT By: Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator Background: At the June 11 EDA meeting, Staff was authorized to enter into 6 networking events over the summer. Allina, Rotary, the Area Chamber, and the Anoka Technical Colleges were identified as good events to increase visibility and to market our cOnununity. City officials have been working with Allina to locate a project within Ramsey, particularly Town Center. On June 16th, Allina announced that it was going to make a 7 Million Dollar investment in Ramsey to build a new clinic. With The City HRAtaking ownership of land in Town Center it would seem prudent to solidify this relationship with Allina. The action at the June.EDA meeting called for the registration fees associated with putting 6 groups into these events and to promote business retention. Staff feels that it is important to be a noticeable presen<;e at the Allina event in support of the pending project in Ramsey. The Allina event has levels of sponsorship that go above and beyond entering a foursome for the event.. Sponsorships (See attached) range from hole sponsorships ($150) to eagle sponsorships ($7,500). The EDAlCity Council might want to consider a higher level of sponsorship for the event. Staff would like to EDA to consider sending two foursomes to this event and to consider a Bogie ($1000) or Par ($2,500) Sponsorship level. Funding Source: EDA Levy and/or City General Fund Recommendation: Authorize staff to register two teams and provide a sponsorship at the Bogie level for the Allina Event on July 20,2009.
