Case # 4

BUSINESS CONNECTION MEETING SCHEDULING
By: Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator

Background:

The Ramsey EDA held its first Business EXPO on April 25, 2009. This new spring event moved the normally
scheduled Business Connection breakfast meeting to a late fall/winter time frame. In the past the City has had
speakers such as Matt Entenza, David Piggott and El Tinkenbergat these events for businesses. The HRA
acquisition of a portion of Ramsey Town Center warrants quick action to convey the City's role in the project
moving forward. The exact role of the City is yet to be defined but it is apparent that the business community
should be kept abreast of the City's largest project. Staff is suggesting moving up the date of the fall/winter
Business Connection meeting to early September and to have a single topic meeting that highlights the status of
the Ramsey Town Center project and other important city activities. Staff is also looking for authorization to
use Well's Catering to cater the breakfast event like in past years. .

Funding Source: EDA Levy

Recommendation:

Authorize staff to hold the Business Connection Meeting, focusing on a Ramsey Town Center Update, on
September _,2009, send out invitations to all registered businesses in Ramsey, and to hire Well's catering for
a buffet style breakfast.

EDA Action:

Motion to authorize staff to hold the Business Connection Meeting, focusing on a Ramsey Town Center Update,
on September _,2009, send out invitations to all registered businesses in Ramsey, and to hire Well's catering
for a buffet style breakfast.

EDA: 07.09.09

25
