The new Quiet Zone will consist of two at grade railroad crossings <br />along the Canadian Pacific Railway lines. The crossings to be affected are 2ud Street (USDOT <br />crossing #391233 Y), and Jrd Street (USDOT crossing #391232S), Please disregard an earlier <br />Notice oflntent submitted by the City of Hastings dated 12/27/2007, <br /> <br />A portion of the improvements tlecessary for the Quiet Zone were constructed in 2007, but will be <br />modified to comply with FltA approved standards for Quiet Zone Supplemental Safety Mc:aS\lreS <br />(SSMs). When completed, the improvements will consist of. II 100+ foot loni non-traversable <br />median on the west side of the crossing, a 90+ foot long OQIHraversuble median on the enst side of <br />the crollsing, a\ltomatic sigmlls & arms, and clo:n~re of two street access points within thetil'st 100 <br />feet west of the rl.1i\ro~,d tracks at the 2"d Street crossing (USDOT #39 J:433Y), as well as complete <br />closure of the 3"~ Street crossing (USDOT #391232S) Ii'om public use by woy of locking vehicle <br />gotes, The vehicle gates M 3"cJ Street will be operated by authorized City personnel for the <br />purposes of emergency access and maintenance (snow & debris removal), The gates will also be <br />operated by authorized CP Rail personnel for the purposes of access and maintenance of their yard. <br /> <br />I have enclosed the required FM notitication fonus for the Notice of Intent to Create iii New Quiet <br />Zone for your review.
