<br />'" <br /> <br />Case # <br /> <br />a <br /> <br />Authorization to Enter into a Contract for Towing Services Needs <br />By: Chief James Way <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey had a contract for towing services with North Star Towing that expired June <br />30, 2009. Staff is requesting authorization to enter into a contract for towing services for the <br />City of Ramsey for a two year period. <br /> <br />A notice was published in the Anoka County Union once a week for two weeks beginning May <br />1,2009. The deadline for proposals was Friday, May 29,2009 at 4:30 p.m. The same RFP that <br />was used in 2007 was used with minor changes. <br /> <br />Staff was aware of four towing companies that had shown interest in providing a proposal for <br />service. These four companies were mailed requests for proposals during the release date. <br /> <br />Three proposals were received by the City that met the requirements as stated in the RFP. The <br />three proposals were reviewed with Council at the Council Work Session on June 30, 2009. <br /> <br />Funding Source: <br /> <br />Police and Fire vehicles will be towed at no cost. Seized vehicles will be at a rate determined in <br />the towing contract. Tows that occur do to arrest, accident, motorist aid or other police mater <br />will be paid by the owner/driver of the vehicle at the rate determined in the selected proposal. <br /> <br />Attachments: <br /> <br />Request for Proposal <br />Three Proposals received by the City <br />Summary sheet of proposals <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Authorize staff to enter into contract with selected towing service based on Council discussion. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion by City Council to adopt a resolution 09-XXXX authorizing staff to enter into a two year <br />towing contract with selected towing service. <br /> <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />CC: 7/14/2009 <br />
