Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that this would be available through the website but
that a small number of hardcopies would also likely b~ printed.

Consensus of the Board was that members would research various Best Management Practices to
include in a water conservation toolbox or booklet.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that this would likely be the only topic on the July
agenda to ensure that this booklet can be finalized as soon as possible.

Case #4:

Review of 2009 Environmental Expo and Tree Sale

Environmental Coordinator Anderson presented the staff report.

Board Member Bentz stated that he thought the expo event went very well. His only comments
were that it still would be nice to have this type of event outside and that the corridor seemed to
get a little cramped at times,

Board Member Enstrom stated that he thought attendance was very good considering that similar
types of events were being held in a number of surrounding communities the same day. He
thought that if it were possible, a different date may be ideal simply to avoid direct competition
for attendees.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he appreciates that concern, but the window of
time is very limited when dealing with bareroot tree stock between when the ground thaws and
when they break bud. This is likely why so many communities have this type of event at the end
of April, in addition to being in close proximity to Arbor Day and Earth Day.

Board Member Riley-Daniels suggested looking for sponsors for the event as a way to minimize
costs.

Case #1:

Appointment of Chairperson and Vice Chairperson for 2009

Board Member Enstrom suggested that nominations for Chair and Vice Chair should be
submitted thirty days prior to appointment for consideration.

Chairperson Max stated that for larger organizations he would agree that this may make sense.
However, for a seven person board, he thought that that was not necessary.

Board Member Bentz nominated John Freeburg for Vice Chairperson and Trent Hassett
seconded the nomination.

Board Member Bentz nominated Trent Hassett for Vice Chairperson and Board Member Riley-
Daniels seconded the nomination.

Board Member Bentz nominated John Enstrom for Vice Chairperson and Board Member Trent
Hassett seconded the nomination.

Environmental Policy Board / June 1, 2009
Page 4 of6
