CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
Topic Report: Gun Range Concept Plan
By: Sean M. Sullivan, Economic Development
Coordinator

/
--

Background:

Staff has been meeting regularly with Sergio Bulask to discuss the possibility of a Gun
Shop/Range being located in the City of Ramsey. The City Council has identified a Gun
Shop/Range as a strategic directive and the city . now has an individual seriously
considering locating a business in the 16ih Avenue Commercial node area. The enclosed
retail activities and personal services associated with the project would be a permitted use
under the existing B-1 zoning classification.

At the July 9th EDA meeting authorization was given to staff to contract with LHB to
conduct a TIF analysis and determine a project area for the 167th commercial node. If
there is a viable TIF district for that area, funds could be used to work on infrastructure
improvements, renovation and redevelopment of the project area.

The Developer is currently looking at the Bob's SuperValu building as the location of the
Gun Shop/Range. There are a significant number of improvements that would be
necessary to make this a suitable location for the proposed project, including the
installation of a fue suppression system. Sergio Bulask will give a short presentation to
discuss the proposed project and will be available to address questions.

Action Statement:

Based on discussion.

Reviewed by:
Deputy City Admi
City Administrat

evelopment

Attachments:
Site Location map
