May 8, 2009
Dear Resident:
Attachment H
7550 Sunwood Drive NTW • Ram
City Hall: 763-427-1410 • Fax: 763-427-5543
www.cixamsey.mn.us
Recently, you received a Public Hearing Notice regarding a request for an Interim Use Permit to
allow radio -controlled, model aircraft on the agricultural land owned by Pearson Properties 'of
Ramsey, LLC.
Prior to that Application, NorthWest Radio Control Club was issued a Special Events Permit under
approval from the City Council. Special Events Permits are extremely temporary in nature. The
Special Events Permit is valid until an Interim Use Permit is. either approved or denied. NorthWest
Radio Club has informed the City that they plan on flying starting Monday, May 11.
The purpose of this Special Events Permit is to allow the club to start flying aircraft sooner than
would be allowed under the normal Interim Use Permit review process. This also provides the City
a unique opportunity to study actual conditions that arise from this interim use before either
approving or, denying the Interim Use Permit. Interim Use Permits can be approved for a maximum
of five years unless otherwise extended by City Council. The City is interested in hearing your
feedback from this operation, either in support or not in support.
The Planning Commission opened the Public Hearing for the Interim Use Permit request on
Thursday, May 7. It was the determination of the Planning Commission to recess the Public Hearing
until the June Planning Commissiozl in order for City Staff to take noise readings and study any
potential traffic impacts resulting from the use. This also gives you as residents an opportunity to
provide feedback on how the use is or is not impacting your neighborhood under actual conditions.
I thankyou for your feedback on this application. Enjoy the warm weather!
Sincerely,
CITY OF RAMS
Ti Gladhil
Associate Planner
CC: Community Development Director
City Administrator
Police Chief
