Motion by Board Member Hassett and seconded by Board Member Riley -Daniels to close <br />nominations. <br />Board Member Stodola voted for Trent Hassett for Vice Chairperson. <br />Board Member Enstrom voted for Trent Hassett for Vice Chairperson. <br />Board Member Hassett voted for John Freeburg for Vice Chairperson. <br />Board Member Riley -Daniels voted for Trent Hassett for Vice Chairperson. <br />Board Member Freeburg voted for Trent Hassett. <br />Board Member Bentz voted for Trent Hassett. <br />Chairperson Max voted for John Enstrom. <br />Board Member Hassett was appointed to serve as Vice Chairperson for 2009. <br />BOARD/STAFF INPUT <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson updated the Board about the June 13 rain gardens <br />workshop that is available at no cost to residents. <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson updated the Board about the intent to carry through with a <br />collaborative process to revisit wetland protection per the City Council's direction. <br />Board Member Enstrom stated that he would like the Board to review the Metropolitan Mosquito <br />Control Districts policies for spraying for mosquito control. He is concerned that the this may be <br />wasting tax payer money and that property owners don't seem to have any say whether their <br />property gets sprayed or not. <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson reminded the Board that they still do not have an approved <br />work plan and, considering the time of year already, this could be added to a proposed work plan <br />that could be for the remainder of 2009 and all of 2010. <br />Board Member Freeburg updated the Board about a volunteer restoration project that will be <br />occurring along the Mississippi River on June 13. This is being organized by Great River <br />Greening. <br />Chairperson Max offered to draft a letter of support to be sent to City Council regarding this <br />project. <br />Motion by Chairperson Max and seconded by Board Member Riley -Daniels to submit a letter of <br />support to City Council regarding the volunteer restoration project. <br />Environmental Policy Board / June 1, 2009 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />
