NOTE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES The following Council minutes were noted: 1) City Council regular meeting minutes dated April 28, 2009 2) City Council regular meeting minutes dated May 12, 2009 PUBLIC HEARINGS/COMMISSION BUSINESS Case #1: Public Hearing — Request for Conditional Use Permit to Allow for Indoor Retail Sales of Motor Vehicles in the E-1 District; Case of Complete Motor Sports Public Hearing Vice Chair Levine called the public hearing to order at 7:02 p.m. Presentation Associate Planner Gladhill presented the Staff Report Citizen Input Ben Semler, 30646 Navajo Street, Isanti and Sean Corbin, 14412 Waco Street, the applicants, stated they will be selling kids 4 -wheelers, dirt bikes and scooters with sales done at fairs, and ads in papers. There will be display units and sales transactions done at the suite. They anticipate two to three people a week to pick up their items. There will also be helmets and gear sold online. Commissioner Rogers asked if they repair the items and then sell them. Mr. Corbin replied they are purchased new; they put on the tires and prep them for sale. Commissioner Van Scoy questioned if there would be outdoor displays and if they are allowable in this district. Mr. Semler stated they would like to put a few outside for display. Associate Planner Gladhill stated outdoor displays would need to be written into the conditional use permit. Community Development Director Miller stated outdoor display was not part of the original application and it would have to be determined how the outdoor displays would affect the other tenants. Motion by Commissioner Van Scoy, seconded by Commissioner Cleveland, to close the public hearing. Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chair Levine, Commissioners Van Scoy, Cleveland, Dunaway, Hunt, and Rogers. Voting No: None, Absent: Chairperson Nixt Planning Commission/June 4, 2009 Page 2 of 7
