A Roll Call vote was performed by the Recording Secretary: <br />Councilmember Wise <br />aye <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />aye <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />aye <br />Councilmember Look <br />aye <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />aye <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />aye. <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />aye <br />Motion carried. <br />Case 414: Adopt Resolution #09 -07 -XXX Authorizing Execution of Agreement with the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 <br />Participation in the Safe and Sober Communities Program <br />Police Chief Way reviewed the staff report. <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that there is a statute that police cannot have any quotas, but noted <br />that the Safe and Sober campaign seems to have funding tied to whether the City gets "x" <br />number of arrests. <br />Police Chief Way stated that there is a requirement of "x" number contacts, not arrests. <br />Councilmember Dehen asked how the Safe and Sober program differs from everyday activities <br />for the officers. <br />Police Chief Way stated that with the Safe and Sober program officers are specifically out there <br />for traffic situations and their sole purpose is traffic and they will not be called away for other <br />issues. <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to adopt Resolution #09- <br />145, Authoring the Execution of the agreement with the State of Minnesota Department of <br />Public Safety for the 2009-2010 participation in the project. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Ramsey and Councilmembers Jeffrey, Elvig, Dehen, Look, <br />McGlone and Wise.
