<br />Public Works Director Olson reminded the Commission and Council not to lose sight of the <br />2010 budget as it did not look good in terms of revenue. He thought that projects chosen should <br />be able to be maintained. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that staff recommends holding off on the restroom and <br />shelter projects at this time. He explained that if the grant application authorized by the Council <br />is approved there may be more leverage for those projects in 2012. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen commented that many people bring their own water to the parks and <br />thought that the water fountains could be pushed back on the CIP. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey questioned the status on expanding the parking at Central Park. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that project was slated to begin in 2010. He explained the <br />proposed parking arrangements and thought it would be helpful to know if this project was a <br />priority. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock thought that due to the high usage this project should be a high priority. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey questioned if the project could be completed in stages. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood confirmed that the project could be done in stages with the first <br />stage estimated around $20,000. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffery thought that City staff should begin to prepare plans for this project and <br />speak to the Church to determine where they are in the platting process. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen commented that if they were to do the project in stages, he thought that <br />- each stage should be made to look nice, rather than incomplete. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock was concerned that accessibility by. elderly and handicap still be <br />considered when planning the expanded parking. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that although the project was estimated at $500,000 the <br />actual cost may be considerably less due to low construction costs. He advised that estimates and <br />options could be developed. <br /> <br />Commissioner Erickson left the meeting at 7:25 p.m. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen thought that some of the parking issues at Central Park stemmed from the <br />timing of the first and second games and questioned if the game could be staggered better. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone questioned if there was an area that could be used as interim parking <br />for the time being. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation Commission/June 11, 2009 <br />Page 6 of 10 <br />
