<br />Councilmember Jeffrey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #09-07-145 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR 2009,2010,2011,2012 <br />P ARTICIP ATION IN THE SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department has,. in previous years, participated <br />in the Minnesota Safe and Sober Project, receiving grant money for the education and <br />enforcement of DWI, Speed, and Seatbelt laws. In order to do this, the City of Ramsey <br />has entered into contractual agreements with the State of Minnesota to receive grant <br />money; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department would like to participate in the 2009 <br />Safe and Sober Campaign. This three-year grant is being prepared by the Coon Rapids <br />Police Department of which the Ramsey Police Department would like to partner with. If <br />awarded the grant, all the police departments involved would receive sufficient funding <br />to cover officer overtime expenses to participate in the required Safe and Sober wave <br />sessions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota is requmng a resolution from Council <br />authorizing the execution of an agreement with the Department of Public Safety for the <br />2009,2010,2011,2012 participation in project SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES to <br />commence October 1,2009 through September 30, 2012. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the Ramsey Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the <br />Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for the <br />project entitled SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES during the period from <br />October 1,2009 through September 30,2012. <br /> <br />2. That the Ramsey Chief of Police is hereby authorized to execute such <br />agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on <br />behalf of the Ramsey Police Department in cooperation with the Coon Rapids <br />Police Department. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember Elvig, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Elvig <br /> <br />Resolution #09-07-145 <br />Page 1 of2 <br />
