Voting No: Steffen Absent: None <br /> <br />Case #4: BUSINESS CONNECTION MEETING <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan presented Case #4 <br /> <br />The Ramsey Business Connection breakfast meeting is usually held in the fall. This year it was <br />presented to the EDA that it should be held earlier this year. With the acquisition of Ramsey <br />Town Center, this warrants quick action to convey the City's role in the project. Economic <br />Development Coordinator Sullivan is requesting that this meeting date be changed to an earlier <br />date in September 2009. He is also looking for authorization to use Well's Catering to cater this <br />breakfast event. The main focus ofthis meeting should been on the Ramsey Town Center. <br />Have a single topic that highlights the status ofthe Ramsey Town Center project. <br /> <br />Mr. Mulrooney suggested that we invite Dan McElroy the Commissioner of Employment and <br />Economic Development to be the speaker. Dan McElroy is a non political speaker. Member <br />LeTourneau suggested contacting the Anoka Area Chamber for suggestions. <br /> <br />Motion by Member LeTourneau, seconded by Member Steffen, to authorize staff to hold the <br />Business Connection Meeting, focusing on the Ramsey Town Center Update, in early fall 2009, <br />to secure Dan McElroy as the speaker. To send out invitations to 'all registered businesses in <br />Ramsey, with additional invitations being sent to legislators as quests; to attend but no time at the <br />microphone. Absent: None <br /> <br />Case #5: 167th COMMERCIAL NODE TIF ANALYSIS <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan presented Case # 5 <br /> <br />The intersection of 167th Avenue and Highway 47 is an area that has been identified by the EDA <br />as needing some revitalization. A study by the McComb Group L TD identified this area as a <br />place where commercial activity could prosper. The Ramsey EDA contracted the Buxton Group <br />. to take a look at the area and see if it still had potential. The Buxton study concluded that the <br />area populations, traffic counts and demographics still would support a commercial node in the <br />area. <br /> <br />Getting a detailed analysis on whether or not this area would qualify for a Redevelopment, or a <br />Renewal and Renovation TIF districts would be a good starting point toward the revitalization of <br />this commercial node. City Officials have been in discussion with a potential user for the site <br />and this user has expressed the need for assistance from the City.
