<br />Councilmember Look introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #09-04-085 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO APPLY FOR COMMUNITY <br />GRANT MONIES THROUGH WAL-MART TO SPONSOR A WASTE <br />REDUCTION AND RECYCLING PRESENTATION AT RAMSEY <br />ELEMENTARY SCHOOL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, as outlined in the recycling agreement with Anoka County, the City <br />is required to provide two community presentations per year focusing on recycling; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Tricia and the Toonies provides an entertaining and educational <br />message about the importance of recycling and waste reduction that is suited for <br />elementary school aged children; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Wal-Mart offers a program in which local government agencies can <br />apply for up to $1,000.00 offunding for approved programs and/or projects; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is no matching component required to receive grant funds; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is no obligation to purchase merchandise from any Wal-Mart <br /> <br />store; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1) That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes Staff to apply for a community <br />grant from Wal-Mart to sponsor an ENVIRO-Show at Ramsey Elementary <br />School. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember Dehen, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey <br />Councilmember Look <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember McGlone <br />Councilmember Wise <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />None <br />
