Rock landscaping gets hot, does not hold water, is a mowing hazard <br />(rocks never stay off the turf) and you have issues when you don't want the rock anymore. Wood mulch <br />holds water, can control weeds and bugs (maybe not as well as rock), does not get hot in the sun, and <br />you can add more too it or put dirt over it. Also, wood mulch is much friendlier to the mower blades. <br /> <br />Do watering bans apply to gardens? Or landscaping? Is the ban only regarding irrigating turf? <br />Will drip systems be under ban? Low water volume... <br /> <br />Moisture sensor systems in sandy soil. .. does that work? Topsoil ordinance may take care of. <br /> <br />Are there opportunities for grants or studies in this area? Florida, Nevada, California have smart <br />controller studies for their environment. How does the Irrigation Association's SWAT testing (virtual <br />landscape in California) compare to Anoka County Sand Plain? <br />
