There was discussion about the different areas in the R TC, their locations and the level of
maintenance and upkeep needed.

Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer Olson confirmed that the Public Works
Committee feels that the 71-acre parcel can be left alone.

It was discussed if things that are pad ready, the City deforest and take down some of the trees on
the site, and it be taken down to 18 inches or so. The Committee wants the Public Works
Department follow the recommendations as discussed, and, before the next meeting, have the
Public Works Committee take a look around and see howthey think it looks and if things need to
be tweaked.

Action:

Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

Case #3:

Consider Cross Walk across Alpine Drive at Alpine Park

Assistant City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the staff report.

Gregg Schatz, 6581 153rd Lane, stated that since the dog park and skate park has opened, he has
seen additional traffic, both from pedestrian and vehicles. He stated that there has been parking
along the S curve area because there isn't parking at the skate park.

Chair Elvig asked about the possibility of putting a. connection between 153rd Way and 153rd
Court.

There was discussion about a possible speed limit study on Alpine Drive.

Chair Elvig suggested posting no parking signs in the S curve area.

Public Works Director Olson stated that posting no parking signs will actually create a situation
where people are parking further away from the park, which will have them out walking along
the road for longer distances.

Chair Elvig stated that he does not want to promote parking on an MSA road just because the
City put in a park.

City Engineer Himmer suggested that you could post no parking on the north side of Alpine
Drive.

Councilmember McGlone stated that he feels roads are for cars and people belong off the road.

Chair Elvig stated that he likes the western location, as suggested by staff, and would like to ask
for a speed study to be conducted. He suggested that there also be discussion about putting in a
sidewalk on the north side.

Public Works Committee / July 21, 2009
Page 3 of7 .
